The Chancellor, Hon. Dr. Jared Kangwana has challenged TU-K graduates to face the world with confidence and purpose. The Chancellor was speaking during the 14th graduation ceremony held today 25th November 2025 where 2200 graduands were conferred with degrees and diplomas.
He congratulated the Class of 2025, for reaching such a milestone. “Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have brought you to this proud moment. Very soon, through this ceremony you will be officially empowered to apply the knowledge and skills you have diligently acquired in your various fields of study. As you prepare to step out from this esteemed institution and into the wider world, I encourage you to face the future with courage, resilience, and unwavering determination to create meaningful change in society.”
He advised the graduands to adapt to changes. He explained that the world was not an easy place saying that it is fast-moving, demanding, and often unkind to those who lack focus and resolve.
“There are no ready-made jobs waiting for you to simply walk in and claim. It will not surprise you to know that many graduates today face unemployment despite their qualifications. Yet, within this challenge lies opportunity. Some graduates have not only survived but thrived—and the reason is clear: resilience, strategic thinking, adaptability, and determination have been their guiding lights.”
To succeed today, the Chancellor told the graduands, one must believe in him/herself and continually develop the right skills. He further reminded them that the degree or diploma they hold from TU-K is their strong foundation, but not the finish line.
“Work relentlessly to position yourself better than others vying for the same opportunities. If acquiring additional skills, means returning to school for further learning to give you the edge, then embrace that path without hesitation. Take, for example, the rise of artificial intelligence. It is reshaping industries worldwide, and skilled developers are in high demand. You may not have studied everything here at TU-K, but you have a solid grounding that enables you to learn and apply new skills to solve real-world challenges. Employers today prioritize practical skills and experience. Strive to be the graduate who performs tasks efficiently and effectively—someone indispensable in any workplace. While awaiting your dream job, seize any genuine opportunity to gain experience. The knowledge and skills you acquire along the way will be invaluable in your journey.”
He urged the graduands to carry with them the strength, knowledge, and characters that TU-K has instilled. “Go forth with confidence and passion to build a future you can be proud of. Congratulations once again, and may your career journey be filled with success and fulfilment. May God grant you your heart’s professional ambitions.”
Council and Management Have Done Well
The Chancellor thanked the University Council under the leadership of Dr Idle Omar Farah and the Management and Senate, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benedict Mutua for steering the University to greater heights.
“I acknowledge the significant time and sacrifices you make in ensuring the continued operation of the institution, even in the face of considerable challenges. The commitment and efforts of the faculty and staff members are also deeply appreciated.”
Dr. Kangwana noted that he was impressed by the steady trajectory the University has recently taken in increasing the number of postgraduate graduates.
“It is imperative that senior faculty members elevate their commitment and dedication to ensure these numbers continue to grow and are sustained over time. I firmly believe the University holds immense potential to play a pivotal role in advancing human resource development, not only within our country but also on a broader international scale.”
To achieve research excellence, the chancellor advised senior faculty to develop and submit high-quality, fundable proposals noting that while abundant opportunities exist, securing research grants is highly competitive and demands resilience, strategic acumen, and unwavering determination
