ACU-Supported Training for Post-Graduate Students at TU-K

The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) in conjunction with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), through the Supporting Researcher Communities Training Grant, will be conducting a 3-day online training on presentation skills and research data management. The training targets post- graduate students in ACU member universities.

The training will take place on 14th to 16th January 2025.

The topics to be covered include;

  1. Presentation skills
  • Audience analysis, storytelling and audience engagement
  • Language and confidence building
  • PowerPoint presentation, slide utilization and arrangement

                              2. Research data management;

  • Introduction to research data management
  • Data standards, taxonomy and ontology
  • Role of metadata in effective data management
  • Application of FAIR principles in data management
  • Data storage and backup
  • Developing a data management plan

The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) in collaboration with Maseno University, the Belmont Forum, the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre (ISTIC) under the auspices of UNESCO, the National Research Fund, South Africa (NRF-RSA), the National Research Fund, Kenya (NRF-Kenya), the Future Earth Africa Node, the Future Earth Africa Hub Leadership Centre and other partners will hold a 4-day 2nd East Africa Regional Workshop on Mastering Research Proposals: Integrating transdisciplinary approaches for impactful research beginning Saturday May 31, 2025 to Tuesday June 3, 2025.
