Students Shine at Concours d’Éloquence

TU-K students Hopekings Musinya and Obren Lourmex making a presentation on 'How Artificial Intelligence is Reshaping Education' during the contest at Alliance Française

The Technical University of Kenya clinched Second Position at the 2 nd Edition of the Concours d’Éloquence held on 13 th November 2025. The contest, organised by Alliance Française de Nairobi brought together brilliant young speakers from across the country to celebrate the beauty, logic, and power of the French language. The event was centred around two debate topics that challenged participants to think critically about modern society.

The first: (« Dans une société où l’écart entre les classes sociales se creuse jour après jour, comment pourrait-on réduire les inégalités sociétales) explored widening social inequalities and invited speakers to propose ways of reducing the growing divide between social classes. The second topic (Comment l’intelligence artificielle transforme-t-elle notre manière d’apprendre et d’enseigner) examined the impact of Artificial Intelligence on education, prompting speakers to reflect on how AI is transforming the way we learn and teach. The University was represented by Hopekings Musinya (a second-year student pursuing Tourism and Travel Management) and Obren Lourmex, (a third-year student studying Accounts). The duo delivered a compelling argument on how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping education—from empowering students and transforming assessment models to enhancing teaching through smart tools and personalised learning pathways. Their eloquence, mastery in content delivery, and teamwork propelled the team to position 2. Their achievement placed the University in the top three position for the second consecutive year, a significant achievement, that cements TU-K as a growing force in French language learning, public speaking and cross-cultural engagement. Other participating institutions included Kenyatta University, Kaimosi Friends University, United States International University-Africa -USIU, and The University of Nairobi.
